For those who don’t know, Kantara and producers Hombale Films have been in the midst of a legal battle over the song Varaha Roopam that plays in the climax of the film. Kerala music band Thaikkudam Bridge has claimed that the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ has been plagiarised from the band’s 2017 number ‘Navarasam’. The matter made its way to the courts, which issued an interim order, banning Hombale Films from using the original version of the song in its film in the theatres, on OTT, and even on YouTube, until further notice.
Kantara began streaming on Prime Video India from November 23, midnight. Ever since, social media was inundated with miffed fans of the film complaining that the mesmerising effect of Kantara is just not the same with the altered version of Varaha Roopam in the Prime Video India version of the film. Many viewers said that the very soul of Kantara is missing, with the watered-down, new version of Varaha Roopam in the film.
Now that the goosebumps-inducing Varaha Roopam is back in Kantara on Prime Video, it’s time for film lovers to enjoy the treat!
