Telugu film, Krack is the first notable Theatrical release down the South in 2021. The movie had some last-minute issues before the release but finally managed to see the light towards the end of Saturday. The movie has got a blockbuster talk but even before that, there were unimaginable crowds at the theaters.
Even though the movie got postponed multiple times in the day, the crowds just kept coming back to watch the film in theaters. That reinforces the fact that the theatrical business is here to stay. Some film experts say that the success of Krack and the confidence given by the audience will discourage the filmmakers from looking at the Direct online release option in the coming days. That means there can be a dearth of content to the OTT platforms on that front. The Tamil film, Master will throw a similar challenge in the next week.
But then, OTT platforms already have their arrangements done for the Original content. But they have to keep entertaining the audience with their content on par with that offered in the theaters. Unlike the last year where they have a free run, this year will see competition from the theaters, and the OTT has to live up to the challenge.
