Netflix unveiled the first look of “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story” and it has magical and surreal written all over it. “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story” is Netflix’s first live action musical original and will premiere this year, well as the name suggests most likely around Christmas.
The official synopsis goes as, “A cobblestone world comes to life in the event holiday musical tale of an embattled toymaker (Forest Whitaker), his precocious granddaughter (Madelen Mills), and a magical invention, that if they can get it to work in time for the holidays, could change their lives forever.”
The most interesting thing about this Christmas special from Netflix is its cast, where majority of them belong to the black community. Moreover, the débutant Madelen Mills, qualified a global talent search to grab the role of “Journey” in the film.
The amazing starcast includes Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker, Emmy Award Winner Keegan-Michael Key (The Lion King), Tony Award Winner Phylicia Rashad (Creed, Empire), Tony Award Winner Anika Noni Rose (Princess and the Frog, Power) and Madalen Mills.
“Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story” has been directed and written by David E. Talbert (El Camino Christmas, First Sunday, Baggage Claim, Almost Christmas). Ty Stiklorious from Get Lifted Film Co. and Vicki Dee Rock will serve as the executive producer for this magical Netflix Christmas special.
The film has been produced by Get Lifted Film Co.’s Mike Jackson and John Legend, 260 Degrees Entertainment’s David E. Talbert, Lyn Sisson-Talbert, Burr! Productions’ Kristin Burr and Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ David McIlvain.
Netflix hasn’t revealed the exact release date for “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Story” as of yet but we should surely expect it around Christmas or a little before that.
