The first look from Dev’s ‘Bagha Jatin’ has been released by the actor. Deepak Adhikari, popularly known as Dev is one of the biggest superstars of West Bengal and has a huge fan following. Bagha Jatin will be released during Puja this year, the release dates were announced earlier and fans were excited to know more. Dev will be playing against a debutant female lead and other actors like Rohan Bhattacharya will be playing other roles.
The first glimpse features Dev carrying a young boy in his hands inside a jungle. It looks like he is saving the boy from some imminent danger. It is possible that it is the scene where Bagha Jatin fights a Royal Bengal Tiger with his bare hands.
The film is being directed by filmmaker Arun Roy. Arun Roy is known for making great films on the ‘Agniyug’ or the ‘Fire Period’ of Bengal. He has directed ‘Egaro’, ‘Binay Badal Dinesh’, and ‘Hiralal’ and has told stories of bravery and of vigor many times. He has earned the trust of his audiences with this distinctive style and genre of filmmaking and looks like he is going to rock once again with Bagha Jatin.
Dev will be playing the character of Jatindranath Mukherjee, popularly known as ‘Bagha Jatin’, one of the most popular freedom fighters from undivided Bengal. Jatindranath was the leader of the ‘Jugantar’ party and was a terror for British police officers and government officials and fought bravely against the tyrant officials. There are many legends regarding the life of Jatindranath. He got the name of Bagha Jatin because he fought with a tiger bare handed.
There were other films previously on Bagha Jatin and many of them were quite famous too. But this is one huge opportunity to tell the story of Bagha Jatin to not only Bengal but to the whole of India. Dev is choosing scripts very carefully nowadays and he makes sure that his films have an effect in the society. There is no doubt that he will be dedicating himself to the project.
