The makers of ‘Monica, O My Darling’ have just dropped the first look of the film starring Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi and Radhika Apte. The cast also includes Akansha Ranjan (of Guilty fame) and Sikander Kher and it has been announced that filming of the movie has just begun! Written by Sriram Raghavan and Yogesh Chandekar of ‘Andhadhun’ fame, the film looks like a slick, stylish, suspense thriller. The teaser of sorts gives us a sneak peak into their world, with shots of the cast and crew to indicate that shooting has indeed commenced. Psst!.. We even spotted Huma Qureshi looking hot as hell in a song sequence we can only guess is the titular famous retro song, that happens to be the film’s title.
The makers released some poster shots of the cast earlier today. It showed Rajkummar Rao standing with a robotic toy in his hand, in what seems to be a sports gaming office with props such as a sports jersey, dinosaur figures and some Lego equipment around him. Radhika Apte’s shot also featured her sitting on a table in the same office. Although, what really caught our attention was Huma Qureshi’s poster shot showing her in a sexy, svelte avatar. It looks like she has lost oodles of weight, post the SonyLiv web series ‘Maharani’ that she was recently seen in.
This film will see Rao reuniting with Huma Qureshi, after the two starred in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur series. Rao was last seen in horror comedy ‘Roohi’ with Janhvi Kapoor. The Netflix film will mark Rao’s third collaboration with the streaming giant after ‘Ludo’ and ‘The White Tiger’, while for Huma, it will be her second collaboration with Netflix after the series ‘Leila’. As for Radhika, who’s a regular on Netflix, she was last seen in their 2020 movie ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, though she certainly seems to be a roll with the first look of ‘Forensic’ out yesterday alongside Vikrant Massey.
Yesterday, Netflix India had dropped a surprise for fans by sharing only Rajkummar Rao’s poster shot that got everyone super excited to know what’s coming up! Well, the cat is out of the bag now and we can’t wait for the film’s trailer to drop! Here’s wishing the team all the best, for this looks like one helluva movie!
