First Plot Hint From Russo Brothers & Priyanka Chopra’s Ultra-Secret Citadel!

Amazon Prime Video’s buzzy international espionage spy thriller ‘Citadel’, from the Russo Brothers, has created all the right noise in terms of cast and crew. The pairing of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden itself has created a good buzz. Now, the spy series has added another name to the cast – Danish actor Roland Møller, whose credits include A Hijacking, Atomic Blonde, Skyscraper, The Commuter, Papillon, among others.

The Russo Brothers, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the ones behind Extraction, the Avengers Franchise, Captain America, etc, are producing the spy series, along with Midnight Radio as co-producers.

The premise of Citadel is a heavily guarded secret with no info available whatsoever on the plot. All that is known is that it is a fast-paced spy thriller.

Until now, that is.

The first hint of a part of the plot of Citadel has slowly come into the public domain. According to reports in the media, Citadel is described as an “action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional center”.

Citadel, as the show is titled, is the name of a top intelligence agency in the series. Møller will play a character called Laszlo Milla, who is a crucial operative of Citadel’s rival intelligence agency, Manticore. Laszlo is held at a detention facility managed by Citadel for a number of years. Once free, he goes after the man responsible for his capture, Mason Kane, and bringing down Citadel forever. Our guess is that Richard Madden will play the character of Mason Kane.

Priyanka Chopra‘s role is not clear yet. Citadel will be made in the form of a multi-series, with three local-language productions of the franchise in Mexico, Italy and India. Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will be a part of the U.S. “mothership” edition of the global series.

All three chapters of Citadel will be shot at the same time – Citadel America with Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, Citadel India and Citadel Italy.

Interestingly, the Indian edition of the spy series has been handed over for development to Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. of ‘The Family Man’ fame. That makes it an additional treat for fans of the duo’s special brand of cinema.

Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio will serve as writers and executive producers of Citadel. Patrick Moran and Mike Larocca will executive produce with Joe and Anthony Russo.
