SonyLIV has just announced its soon-to-release new series ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’ with a compelling first teaser of the series. The series features Vaibhav Tatwawadi in the lead role of Nirmal. Hindi film buffs will know him as Chimaji Appa from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. SonyLIV has not shared any release date for ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’; just a cryptic ‘coming soon’.
The teaser of ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’ hints that the series is set in the rural backdrop of the northern states of Bihar or Uttar Pradesh. The story is a stark and thought-provoking take on the concept of caste discrimination that is still prevalent in India’s towns and villages.
As depicted in the teaser, Vaibhav Tatwawadi‘s Nirmal Pathak returns to his village after a long time. He is appalled by the blatant suppression and oppression of people of the lower caste in his village. The newly-returned young man attempts to orchestrate a change, but is met with stiff resistance from the village panchayat and upper caste honchos.
Vineet Kumar, Alka Amin, Akash Makhija, Garima Vikrant Singh, Kumar Saurabh and Pankaj Jha play pivotal roles in SonyLIV’s ‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’. Pankaj Jha is well-known for his roles in films such as Gulaal, Black Friday, Monsoon Wedding, Company, among others.
‘Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi’ is directed by Satish Nair and Rahul Pandey. The show is produced by Naren Kumar and Mahesh Korade, under their banner, Kyra Kumar Kreations. The duo has earlier made the series ‘Maharani’, also for SonyLIV.
