The COVID-18 pandemic may have halted all production and filming but that’s not stopping India’s ace directors from making films on the uncertain times that are being faced by the world together.
Ace director Anubhav Sinha along with notable directors Hansal Mehta, Sudhir Mishra, Ketan Mehta and Subhash Kapoor are teaming up for a one-of-its-kind anthology film based on the corona virus pandemic. The film will essentially showcase how the pandemic has affected people’s lives and brought the whole world to a standstill.
Sinha took to social media to announce the news reposting Taran Adarsh’s Instagram post, “It’s official… After Thappad, Anubhav Sinha to produce an anthology film (not titled yet)… Based on stories and experiences from Coronavirus pandemic… Anubhav Sinha, Sudhir Mishra, Hansal Mehta, Ketan Mehta and Subhash Kapoor will direct a story in this anthology film.”
The filmmakers are well known for their offbeat and gritty dramas such as ‘Mulk’ and ‘Article 15’ by Sinha, ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin’ and Netflix film ‘Serious Men’ by Mishra. Hansal Mehta has directed acclaimed films such as ‘Aligarh’ and ‘Omerta’ and Ketan Mehta’s ‘Mirch Masala’ and ‘Toba Tek Singh’ has been critically received. Subhash Kapoor helmed the successful ‘Jolly LLB’ franchise.
Needless to say the collaboration among the five directors will be one to look out for and we can’t wait to see the stories they bring to life through this film.
The film will be produced by Anubhav Sinha under his banner Benaras Mediaworks and is expected to release sometime in 2021.
