With the pandemic hitting hard, multiple OTT giants ended up scrapping a lot of web series indiscriminately (But especially all the good ones). But multiple streaming platforms and production studios have decided on rebooting/revamping their old projects and convert them into new (or in continuation) web series. So in light of that, here are 5 brilliant shows that shouldn’t have been cancelled and need a reboot/revival:

Pushing Daisies
This American fantasy mystery-comedy series follows Ned, a young man who can bring people back to life with his touch but will then send them back to the grave for good, if he touches them again. Complications arise when he revives his old crush and then decides to let her live.
This brilliant series was unfortunately cancelled due to the infamous writers guild strike. The show suffered and was quickly put out of its misery after two seasons. This show deserves a reboot with multiple major plot points still left untouched. This series can be bought on demand on Amazon Prime Store.

Sense 8
This American sci-fi drama is set in a world where a different species of humans are living among homo sapiens, called sensates. Sensates are a group of 8 people around the world who are linked with each other through their minds. The series begins as we witness the birth of a “cluster” of sensates, which is then followed by a terrible incident.
This series was ahead of its time when it came out in 2015 and it still garnered fans world wide. The show got a conclusion to the cliff hanger ending to its second season, but the world of sensates still remains unexplored and there is a chance for a reboot here. Stream this brilliant series on Netflix.

Carnivale
A man with healing powers and a religious priest combine forces to fight a battle of good vs evil in this 1930s set America.
The series enjoyed a crazy number of veiwers when it first aired, but it was unable to keep the attention of its audience members for a long time and it eventually got axed due to cost of production to views ratio was not being worth continuing the series. Stream the series on Disney+Hotstar.

Freaks and Geeks
This American teen-comedy drama series follows Lindsey Weir who befriends a gang of misfits, “freaks”, and her younger brother Sam & his “geek” friends as they navigate through high school.
The series only ran for one season but that was enough for the show to reach cult status. The series had a brilliant young cast of (now-well known) actors. The show got cancelled due to its erratic scheduling and bad time slots. It is not possible for the show to pick up where it left off as all the main characters have aged, but a similar trope-based series could still work in this day and age.

Firefly
Set 500 years into the future, right after the end of a massive civil war, the crew of a small transport spaceship of the outdated “Firefly” class, takes any job so long as it puts food on the table. The men and women just want to survive, but they face constant challenges on the new frontier, such as the Reavers – flesh-eating mongrels who lives on the edge of the universe.
This American Space-Western Sci-fi flick only aired 14 episodes, which were even aired out of order. The marketing for this Joss Whedon flick was bad and the studio pulled the plug very early after the release of the first couple of episodes. The series has reached cult status and has a movie to have a somewhat completed arc, but the world has potential and we could get a new rebooted series if fans, Whedon and any streaming platform or production studio decides to take it up. The series can be bought on Google or YouTube. The movie for this series, ‘Serenity’ is streaming on Netflix.

Special Mention: Deadwood
Considered by many as one of the greatest TV shows ever created, with the dialogue written compared to Shakespeare plays. The series eventually got a film to finish off the arc of the story. Stream this brilliant television show on Disney+Hotstar.
