The first part was one of the biggest surprises of last year and became a box-office sensation. Additionally, FNAF has initiated a chain reaction of horror video game adaptations, with characters like Bendy also set to make a large-screen appearance.
The film has taken an innovative approach by simultaneously streaming on OTT platforms and screening in theaters. Shockingly, more people actually visited theaters, resulting in collections reaching almost $300M. Fans eagerly anticipated a follow-up, and Josh Hutcherson confirmed that the signal is indeed green.
“I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson stated. “Obviously, the fans are amazing and die-hard. Being a part of it was so cool and phenomenal.”
Later, he added, “We hoped it would connect with audiences,” he continued. “But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”
FNAF is indeed a monumental film, despite having a $20M budget; it hits all the right spots and brings back the love for the horror genre. But overall, last year’s horror performance was a real good one, and FVAF also adds the Video Game Adaptation spice.
And as more and more game adaptations are coming in the upcoming years, they do have the chance to be the next Comic Book Films.
The first part of the ‘franchise’ is currently streaming on Prime Video and Zee5 and has a price tag of ₹299, but waiting a couple of weeks might result in a subscription-based streaming rather than renting or buying.
