Matt Reeves‘ latest DC directional, The Batman, is performing outstandingly well since its release. The movie has grossed nearly $248.5 million in its opening weekend so far. And it is expected to bring a lot more money for Warner Bros. Apart from earning big amounts of money, the Robert Pattinson starrer also teases the possibility of future appearances of some prominent Dark Knight villains. We already have witnessed Paul Dano‘s Riddler, John Turturro‘s Carmine Falcone, and Colin Farrell‘s Penguin in the movie. Plus, it nicely sets up a golden opportunity for other Batman villains to introduce themselves to the fans. Here are the top five villains from The Caped Crusader’s Rogues Gallery that may appear in future Batman movies, as part of WB’s Batverse.
SPOILER WARNING!
Penguin
Colin Farrell didn’t got a significant role in The Batman. But WB has confirmed that the Gentleman of Crime will return in his own HBO Max spin-off series, scheduled to dispatch in future. Plus, Fans will see him climbing up to the top of the city’s crime world in the forthcoming Batverse entries.
Joker
We all saw Dano’s Riddler having a conversation with Barry Keoghan’s Joker during the final moments of The Batman. Joker says that there is no shame in being a clown. It seems clear that Keoghan will portray the Clown Prince of Gotham in future Batverse instalments. Who knows he may pop up in the sequel? But we do know that The World’s Greatest Detective is incomplete without its arch-nemesis.
Two-Face
Riddler blasted Gotham’s corrupt DA Gil Colson (Peter Sarsgaard) in the film. Now, the people of Gotham need someone they can trust as their District Attorney. And WB has a perfect chance to introduce Harvey Dent now. However, we all know that the latest DC project explores the early years of Batman in Gotham City. So, we may not witness Dent turning into Two-Face in the upcoming sequel. It will be too early. But we cannot ignore the odds of Dent’s arrival in the second part of The Batman.
Bane
Pattinson’s Batman injects himself with a green-coloured serum to save Selina Kyle from the impersonators of Riddler in the final act of the movie. In the comics, the same serum was developed by Hourman to gain increased strength and energy. It’s known as Miraclo. If it is that power-enhancing drug, then it should be easy for Batman nerds to predict the arrival of Bane in forthcoming Batverse projects. Guardians of the Galaxy fame Dave Bautista has expressed his interest in playing Bane’s character.
Court of Owls
A lot of reports emerged before The Batman’s premiere on the internet, hinting at the possible appearance of Court of Owls. Although, they didn’t turn out to be true. But if we consider all the things that happened in the movie, then we can expect this notorious group to enter the sequel. After all, the Court of Owls was formed by Gotham’s wealthiest and oldest families to control the city’s politics and corruption-related stuff in the comics.
