Friday OTT Clash: Dupahiya, Nadaaniyan & More

OTTs have taken over the Friday release excitement just like the films and this Friday, March 7th is going to be once again a busy one. From Netflix, Prime Video to SonyLIV there something on each one of them. Without further ado let’s get into the details!

Starting with Netflix we have Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan making his acting debut with Netflix original film ‘Nadaaniyan’, a romantic comedy drama also starring Khushi Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary and Jugal Hansraj. The film follows an adorable rich girl Pia who hires a career focused new student Arjun to pretend to be her boyfriend when a misunderstanding turns her friends against her.

There’s also Telugu romantic action thriller ‘Thandel’ coming to Netflix after its theatrical run. The film stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and is based on a real-life incident that occurred in 2018, depicting how Pakistani forces captured a fisherman from Srikakulam in international waters. Despite receiving mixed reviews the film had a decent box office performance.

Coming on to Prime Video, there’s one major highly anticipated series ‘Dupahiya’ landing on the platform tomorrow. The show’s teaser and trailer have created quite a buzz and many believe this could be the next ‘Panchayat’ for the streamer.

Also, Sharwanand and Kirthi Shetty starrer ‘Manamey’ will start streaming on Prime Video tomorrow following its theatrical run.

As for SonyLIV, there are two eagerly waited titles coming up. These include Ram Madhvani’s original series ‘The Waking Of A Nation’ that follows the untold story about the conspiracy behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and how one lawyer took it upon himself to expose it. The trailer and everything has been perceived well and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Also, once again SonyLIV has grabbed a Malayalam gem (following Marco) ‘Rekhachithram’ that is set to launch on the platform this Friday. A mystery crime thriller starring Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan, Mammooty and more, the film not only received great critical response but was also a box office blockbuster.

Next up we have Jio Hotstar which has two offerings this Friday. First is ‘Baapu: A Father’s Story’, a Telugu language father-son drama inspired by true events. Touted to be a thought provoking film it follows Mallanna’s father who decides to trade his life to secure relief funds for the family, but forgets. Funding for his final days, how will they make the ends meet is what it’s all about.

Second is a reality show ‘Thugesh Vs The World’ where Mahesh Keshwala aka Thigesh gets out of his comfort zone, facing India’s best in their domains-while tossing his guests into unexpected, fun-filled challenges.

As far as Zee5 is concerned, acclaimed Tamil film ‘Kudumbasthan’ is premiering on the platform this Friday after its successful theatrical run.

Some other notable release this Friday, March 7th include ‘Bagha Jatin’ on Hoichoi, ‘Barah By Barah’, ‘Tara: The Lost Star’ and  ‘Dominique’ on Book My Show, ‘Kuzanthaigal Munnetra Kazhagam’ and ‘Finder’ on Aha Video.
