Netflix’s hit coming-of-age comedy ‘Never Have I Ever’ threw up an unlikely star – Indian-Canadian teenager, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who came from nowhere to land the lead role in the Mindy Kaling creation. The sassy teenager became an instant hit, her show received a thumbs up from viewers and critics alike….and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan had arrived!
In exciting news for the actress as well as her fans, 19-year-old Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has landed the lead role in the just-announced Netflix film, ‘The Netherfield Girls’. The film is a romcom, and a fresh and contemporary take on Jane Austen’s enduring classic, ‘Pride And Prejudice’. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will portray the lead protagonist Elizabeth Bennet, who falls in love with the snooty Mr Darcy after being at loggerheads with him for the better part of the story.
‘The Netherfield Girls’ has been written by Becca Gleason, who will also direct the film. The film is being produced by Temple Hill Entertainment. No other cast members have been announced as yet, nor has Netflix announced a release date for the film.
