Mad Max: Fury Road prequel movie ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ is going to Cannes – just like its predecessor. George Miller’s action drama ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ will have its world premiere at the Festival de Cannes on 15th May, 2024, in the ‘Out of Competition’ section. ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ too had its world premiere at Cannes nine years ago, in 2015, also in the out of competition section.
Talk of ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ going to Cannes has been swirling since last year. This evening, the official social media handle of the Cannes Film Festival itself put all speculation to rest when it officially revealed that ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ will have its world premiere at Cannes on 15th May, 2024. The film will screen at the Grand Theatre Lumière at le Palais des Festivals.
Director George Miller is glad to return to Cannes with a new Mad Max movie after his previous iteration of the franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Imperator Furiosa. Charlize Theron had portrayed Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. Chris Hemsworth plays Warlord Dementus in the movie, while Lachy Hulme plays Fury Road tyrant Immortan Joe. Tom Burke co-stars alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth.
The prequel movie ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ is set 15-20 years before the events of Fury Road. It follows a young Furiosa, who is abducted from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus, who goes to war against tyrant Immortan Joe. While the two battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive and piece together the means to find her way home.
