The recently released trailer of Furiosa confirmed that Dementus ruled over the remaining human survivors before Immortan Joe, who did the same in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). In addition, we witness both characters in a highly tense standoff with each other, indicating that these two warlords will go one-on-one in the new Mad Max entry at some point.
Furiosa will revolve around Anya Taylor-Joy’s titular character, serving as a spin-off to the classic Mad Max franchise. And our bad guy is Dementus (played by Chris Hemsworth). He has already made a pretty strong impression as a ruthless warlord who also possesses a large and powerful army of War Boys. We did not see him in Fury Road, which confirms who won the big battle between Dementus and Immortan Joe. It is possible that Furiosa could have helped Immortan Joe to take down Dementus for good. She was working for Joe in Fury Road before deciding to help Max and save Joe’s wives.
Fury Road had Immortan Joe as the primary antagonist. Furiosa, with significant help from Max, kills Joe in the film and saves the people residing in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. It was her fortitude that enabled her to end Joe’s life.
It was evident in Mad Max: Fury Road that Furiosa and Immortan Joe did not like each other. But they must have worked together to put an end to Dementus’ rule. We may see that happening in the upcoming spin-off. In addition, we could find out how Furiosa lost her arm. We should not ignore the possibility of Dementus chopping her arm off in a one-on-one fight with her in the forthcoming film.
