The trailer of the much-awaited Gangubai Kathiawadi is now out. This film starring Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgan was announced shortly after Padmaavat but due to obvious reasons COVID kept on getting delayed.
Regardless, the master filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back with his other project Gangubai Kathiawadi. After making three continuous films with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Bhansali has proved his potential independent from them.
This time, however, we see a different version of Bhansali where storytelling and realism are getting more emphasis than grand sets and music. Still, the trailer is not disappointing to a bit and looks highly promising.
Alia plays the character of Gangubai who was sold in the racket of sex work at a very early age. But she establishes herself as a prominent voice for women and children of brothel due to her courage. The film is inspired by the real story of Gangubai Kathiawadi who was a highly powerful figure in the days when Karim Lala ruled the Mumbai underworld.
After Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Ajay has reunited with Bhansali in this film playing the role of Karim Lala.
We can clearly see that Alia has given enormous details in her accent proving her capability as a phenomenal actress.
Bhansali, Ajay and Alia are exceptionally talented in their respective jobs but the actual worth of the film will be known on 25th February when the film hits the theatre.
