It seems like the production team of Apple TV+’s Slow Horses series has been working on all cylinders these days. With Season 4 scheduled to premiere next month, Season 5 has also received a surprising but welcoming update from the leading man himself, Gary Oldman, who plays Jackson Lamb, the head of the Slough House.
In his recent interview with Deadline, Oldman revealed that the filming for Season 5 had been finished. It means that the fifth season could premiere way earlier than anticipated. It could even arrive on Apple TV+ in late 2025. Who knows? The streamer has yet to make an official announcement about this scenario.
“We’ve just finished filming Season 5 and there’s another layer of the onion that is peeled back with Lamb. You find out a little bit more about what went on and then that’s information that you can then think, ‘Oh, that would explain that.’ Or, ‘This is why he’s like he is.’ But honestly and truly, you go to Mick Herron and I don’t quite know if I’d really believe him, but you go to Mick Herron and you say, ‘Tell me a little bit about Lamb.’ And he goes, ‘I don’t really know.’ He said, ‘If I haven’t written it, then I don’t know.’”
Season 4 will be based on Mick Herron’s Spook Street (2017) novel, which revolves around a mysterious figure known as “The Pigeon,” a vigilante who is targeting and killing high-ranking government officials. As the body count rises, Slough House is tasked with investigating the case. Whereas Season 5 will take inspiration from Herron’s next novel, London Rules (2018), which serves as the continuation of the events that occurred in Spook Street. It means that both seasons 4 and 5 may have one big story. The fifth season may also feature the death of one of the members of Slough House.
Slow Horses Season 4 is slated to release on Apple TV+ on September 4, 2024. Led by Gary Oldman, the upcoming season marks the return of talents such as Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Christopher Chung, Rosalind Eleazar, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Jonathan Pryce, and Kadiff Kirwan.
