Following its ‘okayish’ premiere at this year’s Venice International Film Festival, we are here to provide you with some of the early critical reactions to the upcoming George Clooney and Brad Pitt starrer action comedy, Wolfs. If you want to know whether this Jon Watts project reaches the heights of Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean movies, then allow us to save your precious time.
Early reactions to Watts’ Wolfs are mixed to positive, with critics praising the chemistry between the leading duo. The film’s stylish narration, tone, and acting performances stand out but the movie offers nothing new in terms of storyline.
Wolfs puts two aging and loner fixers, Jack (Clooney) and Nick (Pitt), against each other, only to find out that they have been double-booked. Finally breaking from his Marvel Studios shackles, the Spider-Man Homecoming helmer, Jon Watts, seems to be in fine form. His magic touch creates undeniable chemistry between the A-listers. Their clashes are a laugh riot, escalating from the battle of egos to grade-school taunts.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a ‘fresh’ score of 73% so far, based on 11 certified reviews. However, given the current response to the film, we should expect this value to go down after September 20, which marks the film’s limited theatrical release window. It will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from September 27.
Apart from Clooney and Pitt, Wolfs stars Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Frances McDormand. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out some of the early reactions to the film below!
