Last week, it was reported that a ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off sequel series focusing on Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow character was in early stages of development (via THR). Later, Kit Harrington’s GoT co-star Emilia Clark ratified in her BBC interview that the charismatic actor had indeed told her about the Jon Snow based series and that the show is being developed by Kit Harrington himself.
And now, George R. R. Martin, the legendary writer of the book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ which was adapted for the small screen into HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ series, has further spilled the beans and has confirmed about the development of the Jon Snow spin-off series.
George R. R. Martin, on his personal blog, has revealed that the working title of the Jon Snow based show is ‘Snow’. The American Tolkien, as he is fondly called, also wrote that the idea for the show was initiated by Kit Harrington himself.
The acclaimed novelist further stated that, like the other ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel shows, he himself is creatively involved with Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow series. He has stated that “I am involved, just as I am with [the Thrones prequels in the works] The Hedge Knight and The Sea Snake and Ten Thousand Ships, and all the animated shows.”
George R. R. Martin also apprised the readers that the four ‘Game of Thrones’ successor series are currently in the scripting stage and the shows getting greenlit is not a given and it’s not guaranteed that all these shows will see the light of the day.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel which will first hit the small screens is ‘House of the Dragon’, which is based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’. The prequel takes place two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. ‘House of the Dragon’ is set to premiere on HBO Max on 21st August later this year. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Jon Snow’s sequel series starring Kit Harrington.
