Seafood, today that has not only become people’s favourite but also has become a lifestyle for many. In today’s world, everyone loves having a bite of this fancy food but not many know the dark side of how it has reached their plates. Netflix’s upcoming documentary “Seaspiracy” is the documentary you should head towards, if you want to know what actually is happening in the fishing industry in today’s world.
Releasing on the 24th of March, Seaspiracy will not only show people the fishing industry but also the immense corruption that takes place in it. Directed by Ali Tabrizi, the show easily falls into two categories, one being the ecological and conservational side and the other being the true crimes, which is highly relative for the fishing world.
The documentary focuses on “over-fishing” mostly. A practice that has become so big that it has almost turned irreversible in many cases. Over-fishing not only harms the oceans but is the proven reason as to why the aquatic animals are declining and that too at a very high rate, some to such an extent that they have been recorded as extinct. Not only that is happening, along with it comes the crimes related to it.
Fishermen around the world have come to know what appeases people and what can be sold off at a very high rate. The more exotic the product, the higher the price rate and higher are the cases of crime related to it. That world apparently is so violent that one will go to any extremes to either get the product or sometimes sell the product.
This documentary which runs for 90 minutes dives deep into the world of conservation groups that are running to save the oceans, the fishing business and the customers that make up for about 10 billion dollars will be in focus. The documentary’s aim is to change the idea about how the ocean works and tell that humans not only have been gaining from it but have been damaging it way more.
