The Monsterverse might have struck gold as its newest installment is excelling in all parameters. The debut already indicates that it is indeed a budding success.
The entire budget of the film was $15M, less than 10% of Godzilla Vs. Kong, which served as a proper introduction to the MonsterVerse. Despite the low price tag, all aspects of the film, including the shots and effects, don’t reflect the modest budget.
The movie had an early release in Japan on November 3rd. As reviewers arrived, it was stated that Godzilla Minus One is no less than a success story. Director Takashi Yamazaki’s creation has already grossed $13 million USD, just a bit short of its entire cost, and it is only being screened in Japan!
Though not all great movies carry their quality in terms of ratings, Godzilla Minus One makes a strong case with a 100% rating on the Tomatometer in its debut. In terms of the IMDb scale, it also holds a 7.7 rating, making it one of the highest-rated films in the entire MonsterVerse.
The movie is currently limited to theaters in Japan, but the scenes will change soon as North American audiences will be able to witness it from December 1st.
With a star-stacked cast that includes names such as Ryunosuke Kamiki, Munetaka Aoki, and Minami Hamabe, this installment tells the tale of an earlier stage of Godzilla. The film is set during the aftermath of World War 2, increasing the misery of Japan and complicating the storyline in a grand way.
The film is also character-driven, which is different from anything in the franchise. There is no exact news regarding the release date of this in India, but tune into Binged to get further updates on Godzilla Minus One.
