Godzilla is a phenomenon. And while there are two of them currently on the market, the kaiju fever remains on top. So, can we have a Marvel Kaiju movie? It seems like the 2023 Godzilla minus one director, Takashi Yamazaki, has been in talks with the Marvel top G, Kevin Feige. Could this be a setup for a new prospect?
Marvel is the perfect niche for a creature feature. If Yamazaki chooses to pick a monster from the Marvel mythos, the fans will definitely lose their minds. There are many options; there are characters like Fing Fang Foom or even a literal dinosaur that hangs around in the savage lands in Antartica.
Or if we are thinking of giants, why not go for Eternals and Celestials? Yamazaki has a very beautiful talent for bringing emphasis on characters that are not very legible, and the celectials could be the dream project. The fans are even hoping for a possibility of Marvel having a Marvel crossover with Godzilla from Minus One. But that seems rather unlikely, given the outlandish nature of the prospect. Still, it would be no less than some epic to witness.
It would be nice to see Takashi Yamazaki doing what he does best under the label of Marvel. Recently, the re-release of Minus One has elevated the movie’s standing in the American audience, making a new all-time box office record. Thus, it is natural that the director will be approached by Marvel, which loves the idea of inclusivity in its projects.
