The entire Godzilla franchise is better than ever. The Japanese side of the universe just received its first Oscar, marking a significant milestone. Meanwhile, the American side is also buzzing with excitement over a new title. Godzilla and Kong are teaming up to face a new enemy, and a new trailer dropped last night.
The trailer looks promising and builds up the hype, showcasing why this film might determine the future of the Monsterverse. It features some promising shots of Samuel L. Jackson, Bryan Cranston, and Elizabeth Olsen.
Additionally, it introduces a new threat, Skar King, demonstrating why he poses such a significant challenge. While King Ghidorah might outsmart him in a solo fight, Skar King’s experience allows him to defeat most monsters with ease.
The trailer also includes stunning shots of the desert and the Arctic. Especially notable is Godzilla waking up from its healing process, which looks particularly promising. The pink hue suits it well.
Interestingly, the trailer doesn’t focus much on the Hollow Earth scenes. This might be a strategic move to allow audiences to discover these elements in the theaters.
The central question remains: will Godzilla and Kong be able to put aside their differences and work together to fight against Skar King and other monsters? They must, as they’re now fighting not just for humans but also for their own home.
Ticket sales went live with the new trailer, further increasing the hype. With the release date of March 29th fast approaching, Warner Bros. will benefit from ramping up their advertisement efforts. Nonetheless, 2021 has breathed new life into the Godzilla franchise, rejuvenating it for audiences.
