The Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Goodbye‘ was released in theatres a day ago and is getting much love from the audience. The movie which started low is gradually picking up its pace. The film is being appreciated, especially at multiplexes and it seems to have been the best Hindi debut for the actress.
The movie is a heartwarming story of the Bhalla family that depicts their journey of grief and self-discovery after they suffer the loss of their loved one. Rashmika plays Tara Bhalla, a daughter who comes back home upon her mother’s death. The movie is no star vehicle and is not the typical debut that will give any actress visibility but for Rashmika, there could have been no better.
Why?
Because the actress is as well known in the Hindi belt as many A-list actresses due to the stupendous success of Pushpa and the hit songs. Add to that the 34M+ Instagram followers and public appearances and Rashmika Mandanna has the visibility that debut actresses dream for.
Now all the actress needed was the space to perform and bring out her acting talent and ‘Goodbye’ gave her exactly that. It may not have been possible had the film been led by a big male star. Even in a well-written role, the impact Rashmika would have had in such a film would have been limited, especially in films that cater to the big star’s star power as much as it does the screenplay.
With the Vikas Bahl directorial being appreciated by the audience, with many even coming out of the theatres in tears and praising the movie and the performances, it is a golden start to Rashmika’s innings in Bollywood.
The actress going forward will be seen in ‘Animal’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Mission Majnu’. Interestingly, the RSVP Movies produced ‘Mission Majnu’ was supposed to be Rashmika’s Hindi debut. However, the film faced release delays and ‘Goodbye’ ended up releasing first.
