Google’s Sajith Sivanandan has become the new head and Executive Vice President of Disney+ Hotstar, the name of the streaming service in India and other Asian markets.
Sivanandan will start his new job in October this year. He will report directly to K Madhavan, president of Disney Star, and Rebecca Campbell, chairman of Disney’s international content. Plus, he will oversee the service’s business operations and future strategies in India. The streaming platform came into existence after Disney bought Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019. And almost three years later, Disney+ Hotstar is now the biggest streaming service in the country.
Sajith is not new to the world of broadcast and content. He commenced his career with Star TV in the country in the 90s where he managed Channel V for the North Indian market.
“After witnessing rapid growth in recent years, the OTT market in India has entered a transformational phase which calls for an ingenious approach to the manner in which we innovate for growth. Sajith’s wealth of experience that he has gained over the years makes him the best person to lead Disney+ Hotstar on this journey,” said Madhavan.
Sajith Sivanandan was Google Pay’s Managing Director and Business Head before forging his alliance with Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
