Apple TV+ has placed order for a new series ‘City On Fire’ from ‘Gossip Girl’ creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. This latest drama series is inspired by Garth Risk Hallberg’s acclaimed novel of the same name.
As per Apple TV+, in “City on Fire,” an NYU student is shot in Central Park on the Fourth of July, 2003. Samantha Cicciaro is alone; there are no witnesses and very little physical evidence. Her friends’ band is playing her favorite downtown club but she leaves to meet someone, promising to return. She never does. As the crime against Samantha is investigated, she’s revealed to be the crucial connection between a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep.
The eight part Apple original series will be written and directed by Schwartz and Savage, who will also serve as its show-runners and executive producers under their Fake Empire Productions. Schwartz and Savage are known for their works like ‘Looking for Alaska’, ‘The OC’, ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Dynasty’ and many more.
Apple Studios will produce ‘City on Fire’ and it will be the first series order to hail from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s first-look deal with Apple under their Fake Empire Productions banner. Lis Rowinski from Fake Empire will co-executive produce the series.
Further details of the cast, crew and release of Apple’s ‘City on Fire’ remain to be unveiled.
