The Green Lantern web Series by HBO Max definitely is a ‘go’ and they just cast Finn Wittrock as Green Lantern aka Guy Gardner for the series.
Those who are a bit unfamiliar with the character Guy Gardner, he is the third Green Lantern after Alan Scott and Hal Jordan. When the dying Green Lantern Abin Sur crashed on Earth, two candidates were chosen as his successor: Jordan and Gardner. Now in Ryan Reynolds starrer 2011 live-action movie, this portion was covered except there no mention of Gardner as the film centers on Jordan’s Green Lantern. Unfortunately, as per the comic books, the power ring chooses its wearer by proximity, and Jordan happened to be closer to Abin Sur that day. Gardner, the red-headed protagonist, grabs a spare ring soon enough and over the years; Gardner has developed an extremely tough personality.
Now for the story of Green Lantern series which is announced earlier in 2019, will reportedly begin with the very first Green Lantern on Earth, Alan Scott in 1940s, later followed by Gardner and Bree Jarta, a half alien and with a series of events, they all will come together with other Lanterns of the universe to defend the bigger threats.
Finn Wittrock is known for portraying Jether Polk in American Horror Story and recently in Netflix’s Ratched where he collaborated with producer Ryan Murphy for the 7th time along with films like The Big Short and The Last Black Man in San Francisco. He is also an earner of two Emmy nominations. Apart from Wittrock, we are yet to receive any news about the rest of the cast for Green Lantern.
Green Lantern series will be co-written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim and Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television. HBO Max has reportedly asked for 10 one-hour episodes for the series.
HBO Max hasn’t officially commented on the release date of the series but we are sure that fan will be overwhelmed with this fact that finally the production for a content related to Green Lantern is about to begin as the fans are rooting for the reboot of Green Lantern franchise for a long time now after the 2011 film miserably failed at box office.
