Apple TV+ is basking in all the praise coming its way after the success of Tom Hanks starrer ‘Greyhound’ which premiered on the platform on July 10th. It was Apple TV+’s biggest opener yet with the platform gaining almost 30% new subscribers due to this film alone!
Now as per reports, Apple is considering scaling the platform to Netflix-esque heights by releasing 12 movies per year, one each month out of which a third will be big-budget films that will attract huge views and revenue growth.
Apple TV+ has got one hit shows like ‘The Morning Show’, ‘See’ and more recently ‘Greyhound’. It’s also releasing Israeli thriller series ‘Tehran’, an English adaptation of ‘When Heroes Fly’ and Will Smith starrer ‘Emancipation’ soon. So it’s safe to say that the platform is slowly but steadily increasing the number of quality content that will attract subscribers but it has only found its footing after the super hit success of ‘Greyhound’.
A shift in its strategy could be a risky decision that just might propel it towards the success and growth enjoyed by older platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
This strategy if it works could establish Apple TV+ as a formidable player in the digital entertainment industry and pave the way for more number of originals produced by the company so as to compete with the extensive library of its peers like Disney+ or Netflix.
