Grey’s Anatomy, currently in its sixteenth season, created history recently when it became the longest-running prime time medical drama on TV, beating previous record-holder ER. For much of that time, the series had the reassuring presence of Dr Alex Karev, played by actor Justin Chambers, who had been with the show since inception.
Chambers started the sixteenth season as one of the only four remaining original stars of the show. However, in the middle of the sixteenth season, Chambers, aka Dr Alex Karev, bid adieu to Grey’s Anatomy — in the November 14th episode, to be precise. That was the last we saw of him in the show. Subsequent episodes of the season have merely mentioned him being in Iowa to take care of his ailing, schizophrenic mother. Chambers’ exit sent shock waves among Grey’s Anatomy fans. Although the series has regularly seen the exit of beloved original characters, it was something fans least expected.
In a bid to provide closure, the makers of the show have decided to accord a farewell of sorts to Dr Alex Karev. The March 5th episode will reveal what happened to Dr Karev, although there will be no new scenes of the actor in the episode. The news was revealed at the end of this week’s episode via a promo.
