Sony Pictures’ abiding affection for Kapil Sharma continues into its web domain. The popular host of hit Sony TV chat show, The Kapil Sharma Show, is getting his own web series — a comedy series. The comedy web series will premiere on SonyLIV, the streaming service of the content giant.
The as-yet untitled series will apparently go on the floors in late August. A 60-day shooting schedule has been chalked out with Kapil Sharma. The platform hopes to complete the shoot of the series within that period. Only one season of the series is planned, as of now. The reception it receives from viewers, and the success of the series, will decide if SonyLIV will go ahead with a season 2.
Sony’s affection for Kapil Sharma is well known. Even at the height of his misdemeanours, the organisation did not lose faith in the popular comedian. His infamous mid-air brawl with Sunil Grover, and his subsequent bout with depression had convinced even his staunchest supporters that his best days were behind him. Except for Sony, which persisted with The Kapil Sharma Show despite low initial ratings in its comeback edition.
Well, all that is a thing of the past. The Kapil Sharma Show is back to the top of ratings for a chat show. And now comes this news of a web series, headlined solely by Kapil Sharma.
Kapil Sharma has proved his mettle to fans and detractors alike, showing them Sharmaji, and not ‘Babaji’ Ka ‘Thulu’!
