It’s the era of anthologies now. Everywhere the anthologies series as well as the films are leading the way. Netflix that already houses various Indian anthologies is coming up with a brand new anthology tomorrow, that is the 16th of April. Titled, Ajeeb Daastaans, the film is an anthology of four short stories that dives deep into toxic relationships and the way we humans go with it.
Created by 4 talented filmmakers of the Indian industry, the film has a huge ensemble cast consisting of actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aditi Rao Hydari, Manav Kaul Abhisekh Bannerjee, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Shefali Shah and others. The four stories are each 30 minutes long and are titled Majnu, Ankahi, Khilauna and Geeli Pucchi.
All of the actors involved in the movie are some of the best in the industry and everyone has an endearing tale of their own as to how they prepared for their roles in the movie. Nushrratt Bharuccha too has her own story. In the anthology, she will be starring in the story titled Khilauna, which is directed by Raj Mehta.
Nushrratt plays the role of a housemaid, who has her own dark and twisted story to sort as she tries hard to make ends meet. She is the one who is looking out for her younger sister and will do anything for her. The story also stars Paatal Lok fame, Abhisekh Bannerjee.
Nushhratt tells that it was her own house help who helped her get into the role of Meenal, who she is essaying in the movie. She also said that she was one of the major inspirations for her to play the character. She wanted to show the audience the same emotions she goes through whenever she is home. She makes their house more lively and happy with fun little banters.
Nushrratt found similarities in her characters with that of her own househelp. She tells that, she is also someone who works hard and is ready to provide the best for her son. She tells how hardworking and strong willed she is and how much Nushrratt has always loved her and also adores her to the fullest.
With the role of Meenal, the young actress is shedding the image of fun, girl next door vibe away. She has in almost all her past films played similar roles. With Ajeeb Daastaans, and her role in it, she will be able to tell everyone that she is also an actress who can effortlessly carry forward such roles.
