The first look and release date for Disney Plus Hotstar’s much-awaited Hindi original film ‘Gulmohar‘ is out. The film premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 3rd March, as a Holi treat. ‘Gulmohar’ will mark the screen comeback of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and will also be her digital debut. The film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Simran Bagga, Suraj Sharma, among others.
As per the official synopsis from the makers, “Gulmohar revolves around the multi-generation Batra family, who are all set to move out of their 34-year-old family home. This moving out triggers a re-discovery of the bonds that have held them together as a family, while grappling with personal secrets and insecurities”.
While the release date announcement for Gulmohar was a bolt from the blue for digital entertainment followers, lead actor Manoj Bajpayee served his own googly to his fans, leaving them gobsmacked in confusion. Last evening, he shared a post on his social media handles, hinting that he would be back this Holi, with his ‘family’. And of course, everyone took it to be an update on the release date for Manoj Bajpayee’s blockbuster Prime Video show, ‘The Family Man’.
But this evening, Manoj Bajpayee left his fans and the rest of us in splits when he revealed the source of his cryptic ‘family’ post from yesterday. And of course, it was the release date announcement of his Disney Plus Hotstar movie ‘Gulmohar’. The actor and the platform also revealed the first look of the movie, featuring the lead cast of ‘Gulmohar’, posing as one….well….family!
Manoj Bajpayee accompanied the announcement with a caption, “Family se milane ka vaada kiya tha, toh nibhana bhi padega na? Aa rahi hai Batra Family on 3rd March. Gulmohar only on Disney Plus Hotstar”.

Gulmohar is written by Arpita Mukherjee and Rahul V Chittella. It is directed by Chittella, and also produced by him, along with Star Studios, Vikesh Bhutani and Shujaat Saudagar. The film is presented by Star Studios in association with Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works
