It is not every day that an actor builds up a super-impressive, fan and critically acclaimed slate of films including the likes of ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘Zodiac’, ‘Source Code’, ‘End of Watch’, ‘Prisoners’, ‘Enemy’, ‘Nightcrawler’, ‘Nocturnal Animals’, ‘Okja’, and ‘Donnie Darko’ by the age of 43.
Not only has American actor Jake Gyllenhaal done that, but he has also starred in numerous Broadway shows in recent years. One of his most memorable performances was in theatre icon Stephen Joshua Sondheim’s ‘Sunday in the Park with George’.
He also led Amazon MGM’s highest-grossing film debut ever with this year’s ‘Road House’, and has titles like ‘Presumed Innocent’, ‘The Bride’, and a Broadway rendition of ‘Othello’ upcoming.
With all that being said, it is safe to assume that Gyllenhaal has had his plate more-than-full for quite some time. Which is why his recent comments about wanting to do films for the heck of it and the pure pleasure of the experience have garnered mixed reviews from fans.
While numerous understand the need for an artist to work for and according to themselves, many have already begun mourning the going-away of a brilliant actor. However, as someone who reduced his body’s fat percentage to less than 5% for the thrill of a movie role, who’s to say what is fun and what is not for the eclectic actor?
Moreover, with an upcoming slate as studded as his, he really has left no room for fans to complain nevertheless!
