Applause Entertainment has announced the third instalment of the very successful Scam franchise and this time they will tell the story of Sahara founder Subrata Roy. Titled as ‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’, the series will premiere soon only on SonyLIV.
Based on the book ‘Sahara – The Untold Story’ by Tamal Bandopadhyay, ‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’ will tell the rags to riches story of maverick businessman Subrata Roy and how he established an empire that went on to become the second largest employer in the country. His life is frought with accusations whether it was chit fund scam, fake investors, financial frauds and much more. He was arrested in 2014 and died in November last year.
Earlier Subrata’s story was part of Netflix’s documentary series ‘Bad Boy Billionaires: India’ but SonyLIV’s ’Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’ will be a fictionalised version of his life.
‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’ is directed by Hansal Mehta who is also working on another Applause project ‘Gandhi’ starring Pratik Gandhi (‘Scam 1992’). Mehta had also helmed the first instalment of the scam franchise ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’.
‘Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga’ announcement came with a small teaser video with Subrata Roy climbing up the stairs to a stage with a whole lot of audience waiting for his speech.
