Chetan Bhagat is perhaps the first name that occurs whenever we think about contemporary Indian authors. With a steep decline in book reading habits, Chetan Bhagat’s books are a rescue and they still pump adrenaline amongst the readers.
Many don’t know but his 5 films have been adapted to movies and one of them even includes Salman Khan in the leading role. But that was a terribly made film and didn’t do any justice to the book. But hold on, we bring 3 films for you which are not only based on Chetan Bhagat’s books but are also a great watch.
3 Idiots (Netflix/Prime Video)
Based on Bhagat’s debut novel Five Point Someone, 3 Idiots is beyond the introduction. One of the most popular Indian films, it is a loving title in China and South Korea too. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, it stars Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor and Boman Irani in the lead role.
Although Bhagat claimed that the makers of the film didn’t give him enough credit for the film. But whatever the case may be, there is hardly any film in the 21st century which matches the insane popularity and greatness the film has. It was even remade in Tamil but the original Hindi version is all we recommend.
The film released in 2014 was based on a novel of the same name by Chetan Bhagat. Interestingly, this is not fiction but the real-life love story of Bhagat.
It had a brilliant album with a song as evergreen and soulful as “Mast Magan”. Even the performance by Alia Bhatt was brilliant. Arjun Kapoor however failed to impress much with his work. But yet again, legendary Malayalam actress Revathi along with Amrita Singh, Shivkumar Subramaniam and Ronit Roy saved the show.
This is a really nice film for a binge-watch and can be a great choice for hardcore romantic fans.
Debut film of Shushant Singh Rajput, it also stars Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh. Based on “The 3 Mistakes Of My Life”, was directed by Abhishek Kapoor.
The film is meticulous in the deep messages it leaves and is definitely a great watch for those who want substantial films but in a light mode.
The album of the film was also good but the show-stealer has to be the intense story and brilliant performance by the cast. Kai Po Che is definitely a worthy watch for all the cinephiles.
