The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has several exciting films lined up for release in the future and one of them is the highly anticipated Captain America sequel titled ‘Captain America: New World Order’, which is set to release in theatres on 3rd May 2024.
And in a massive casting update for the fourth Captain America movie, veteran actor Harrison Ford has reportedly been roped in to star as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross. Harrison Ford’s casting was earlier being speculated and has now been confirmed via Jeff Sneider of ‘The Hot Mic with John Rocha and Jeff Sneider’ and TVLine.
After making his debut as Thunderbolt Ross in the upcoming ‘Captain America: New World Order’ movie with a relatively smaller screen time, Harrison Ford will appear in a more substantial role in the subsequent Phase-5 MCU film ‘Thunderbolts’. The dashing Oscar-nominated actor will replace Late actor William Hurt, who essayed the same role in earlier MCU films.
The fourth Captain America movie was announced last year and Anthony Mackie, who accepted the titular mantle in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ series, will reprise his role as Sam Wilson / Captain America in ‘Captain America: New World Order’. Although it’s a fitting testimonial to his top-notch acting talents, he will have big shoes to fill after Chris Evans’ heartrending departure from the iconic role in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
‘Captain America: New World Order’ is being co-written by ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’ creator Malcolm Spellman along with Dalan Musson. The high-profile project will be directed by Nigerian American filmmaker Julius Onah, who had previously helmed the sci-fi horror flick ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ (2018) and the social thriller ‘Luce’ (2019).
Although the precise plot details of ‘Captain America: New World Order’ are being kept under the wraps, the film’s underlying premise will ostensibly revolve around the effects of becoming the new Captain America on Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson. Before featuring in Captain America: New World Order’ and ‘Thunderbolts’, Harrison Ford will star in another big-ticket film – the fifth Indian Jones movie which is being directed by James Mangold.
