As per confirmed reports from media outlets (and first reported by Deadline), ‘You’ has cast Charlotte Richie as one of the primary characters for its upcoming season. She is set to star opposite series regular Penn Badgley who plays the role of Joe Goldberg.
Season 3 of the show ended with Joe moving to Paris in search of his latest obsession and probable victim Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). Plot details of the show have not been revealed yet. However, details about Charlotte Ritchie’s character are revealed.
She plays the character of Kate who is described as smart, independent, suspicious and misses nothing. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, a brick wall to everyone else. The daughter of a chaotic, bohemian single mother, Kate worked hard to create the life she now leads. She’s an art gallery director whose job means managing tempestuous artists. Kate tends to be “the adult in the room,” and has embraced the moniker of “icy bitch.” She’s especially protective of best friend Lady Phoebe, a sweet and trusting person whose extreme wealth and fame tend to attract opportunists. Kate prefers “arrangements” to love, which is why she dates fun but self-centered partier Malcolm. When Malcolm invites Joe (Badgley), an American outsider of no apparent means, into their privileged world, Kate not only immediately dislikes him, but she also strongly suspects something about the man is not what he seems.
Charlotte Ritchie is an English actor known for her role in the hit BBC comedy series Ghosts. She has also starred in CW’s Dead Pixels and Netflix’s Feel Good among other projects.
Production for Season 4 of ‘You’ has recently begun and is believed to be set in Europe given that Joe moved to Paris at the end of Season 3. Season 3 dropped on Netflix in 2021. However, a release date for Season 4 is yet to be announced. ‘You’ is a psychological thriller based on the books by Caroline Kepnes. It follows Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), a bookstore manager and serial killer who falls in love and develops an extreme obsession. ‘You’ has been quite popular since it first dropped on Netflix in 2018.
Reading the above description of the character, it is clear that Kate is all set to be the primary nemesis of Joe in Season 4. Based on the end of the previous season, we know Joe is obsessed with Marienne. But it will not surprise fans if he ends up falling for Kate eventually.
Seasons 1-3 of ‘You’ are available on Netflix.
