HBO’s The Last of Us Episode 7 is now streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform for Indian viewers.
The latest episode from HBO’s brand new sensation, The Last of Us, has worked like a charm again, like all other episodes. But this one is different as it gives a closer look into Ellie’s past. It brilliantly displays how she was, her true personality, before getting stuck with fireflies and later with Joel. The newest episode also proves that good times don’t last forever.
The episode commences with Ellie trying to cure Joel’s wound. Her protector advises her to leave him and go to his brother, Tommy. Moments later, the episode shifts to Ellie’s past, back when she was a student at FEDRA military school. We see her picking up a fight with a girl named Bethany as the latter teases her by mentioning her best friend, Riley. As a result, she finds herself in front of Captain Kwong. He informs her about the advantages of being a FEDRA officer. Plus, he believes she can be a great officer because of her smartness, and the military organisation needs officers like her. He leaves her with a warning. Later that night, Riley sneaks into Ellie’s room and reveals that she is now a Firefly.
Riley went missing for three weeks and returned as a Firefly. She explains to Ellie that FEDRA is filled with fascist “you know what we mean”. Plus, Riley knew that she was never going to become a FEDRA officer. This scenario left her with no other alternative except to join the Fireflies.
Both Riley and Ellie sneak out of the latter’s room, and together they visit an abandoned shopping centre. They start enjoying various attractions in the mall, including an arcade, a carousel, and many more. Later, Riley informs Ellie that she is going to Atlanta due to her latest Firefly posting. This scenario breaks Ellie. Out of nowhere, she kisses her best friend. Both seem very happy at this point. However, their happiness does not last long as an “infected” attacks and bites both of them. Ellie somehow manages to kill it. They both realise what has happened to them and decide to stay together. Soon, the episode shifts back to the present where Ellie starts sewing up Joel’s wound.
Episode 7 delivers another heartbreaking love story after Bill and Frank’s tale. Bella Ramsey shared great chemistry with Euphoria fame, Storm Reid. But most importantly, we saw a completely new side of her character. Viewers have seen Ellie as a witty and badass girl. That’s why watching Ellie having the time of her life with her bestie-turned-crush, Riley, was refreshing. They both sneak out of their dormitories, jump from building to building, take sips of alcohol, and laugh at corpses. All these things are typical teenage activities. Or should we say ‘typical teenage activities” of kids in the show? Anyway…
Ellie showed some signs of her goofiness while spending time with Sam, Henry’s brother. But Sam’s tragic death changed her completely.
Another thing that the makers have handled brilliantly is Ellie’s sexuality. Episode 7 perfectly showcases her sexual awakening. Plus, it gives Bella Ramsey a chance to display her acting talents. The way Ellie reacts to her and Riley’s serious condition via bursting glasses shows that revenge is in her veins. We may even see her turning into a vengeance-filled individual as the ongoing season reaches its conclusion.
HBO’s The Last of Us stars Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal in leading roles. Stay tuned for more updates.
