Trifecta indeed: Winslet, HBO, and a limited series.
It always works, and always will. HBO was in progress to make The Regime featuring Kate Winslet, and as they drop the trailer, it is indeed clear, that this combination works like a charm.
Previously, the platform and Winslet worked on another limited series, Mare of Easttown, and that brought Winslet back to the mainstream. Being a drama/thriller, the series drew a plethora of attention.
But now, let’s shift our gaze to the ravishing ‘The Regime.’
The trailer starts abruptly, the setting is a meeting room. The trailer not only builds the pieces of Winslet’s character but also manages to portray some sort of infatuation regarding a killer, they gave him the tag ‘butcher.’
The trailer is indeed weird and has hints of being somewhat dystopian, but it is attractive as well. Also, HBO does excel in political dramas, The Regime won’t really make an exception.
The trailer was also paired with some amazing BGM, reflecting the character of Winslet who does look like a psychopath, unsettling yet interesting. Focusing on the geopolitics of such an imaginary country and the increasing protest rate, think of it as The Crown if The Crown went rogue.
Wit, mystery, and psychopath, are three reasons to stream it, and all of them are definitely the perfect source of binge-watching.
The Regime will be streaming on Max, and for the Indian audience, frustratingly, it is JioCinema. So you need to wait probably ‘half a century’ to be able to stream it, so, most of the clips you will definitely be seeing them on Twitter.
