Stephen Amell‘s pro wrestling drama series, Heels, turned out to be a surprise hit last year. In addition to receiving a solid critical reception, it also received a strong positive word of mouth from the viewers. Apart from Amell, Alexander Ludwig‘s performance ended up earning a lot of praise. The show got officially renewed for a sophomore instalment in November last year. Now, the Arrow star has shared a photo via his Twitter handle with the caption “Ring the bell.”, confirming the start of the second season’s filming. Also, Peter Segal was listed as the director and Larry Blanford as the cameraman in the actor’s latest post.
Heels is a creation of Marvel Studios fame, Michael Waldron. The creator is well-known for serving as the writer for Disney+ ‘Loki’ Series and ‘Rick and Morty’ show. Additionally, he has also penned down the script of Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with Sam Raimi at the helm.
The show debuted in August 2021. Its plot revolves around the lives of two low-level professional wrestlers who also happen to be brothers. Amell plays the role of Jack Spade, a “heel” or villain pro wrestler. On the other hand, Ludwig dons the character of Ace Spade, a “face” or hero pro wrestler. They both work in their father’s wrestling promotion with other performers. All these pro wrestlers work in scripted matches to entertain the wrestling fans.
The first season consisted of eight episodes. We don’t know how many episodes we will get in the second one. But it is expected to premiere in late 2022. Heels Season 2 stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Alison Luff, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison, Chris Bauer, and many more acting talents. Former WWE Superstar and currently working in AEW promotion, CM Punk, was also a part of the previous entry. We may witness him again in the character of Ricky Rabies in the forthcoming season.
