“Heeramandi” is one of the biggest ventures Indian OTT has ever seen, if not clearly the biggest. A massive budget, ensemble cast, and the giant we all know by the name of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Netflix India unveiled the trailer last week, and what a trailer it was! It had grandeur, decent music; still, what a trailer it was!
The trailer lacked good dialogues, and the plot was nothing tempting. We are only hoping that there is good writing of the screenplay in “Heeramandi.” Because as of now, it looks like the story of courtesans who forget their internal politics to fight against the British. We might be terribly wrong in assuming so, but it also becomes the duty of Netflix India and Bhansali Productions’ marketing team to tempt the audience with a good storyline. Otherwise, there are enough magnanimous-looking projects of Bhansali that the audience has appreciated with all their heart.
Even the trailer of “Gangubai Kathiyawadi” had a really strong opening and some really catchy dialogues. All that is missing from the “Heeramandi” trailer, and it looks like the feedback really reached the Netflix India office.
Perhaps that’s the reason Netflix India is in damage control mode. They are releasing character promos of several characters which are kinda more interesting than the actual trailer.
Will it help “Heeramandi”? Let’s wait and see.
