Hellbound’s Yeon Sang-ho To Helm ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ for Netflix

Netflix has greenlighted the production of the Korean horror series, Parasyte: The Grey. The show will serve as the official live-action adaptation of the manga series of the same name. And the prominent Korean helmer, Yeon Sang-ho, will sit on the director’s chair for this one. The helmer is well-known for his outstanding work in Hellbound, Train To Busan, and Peninsula.

The story revolves around a bunch of human survivors who fight with everything they got against the dangerous and unidentified species of parasites. Those creatures feed on humans to grow strong. Things become a bit twisty after Jeong Su-in (Jeon So-nee) gets attacked by one of those parasites. Surprisingly, she starts sharing a weird connection with that creature as the latter fails at taking over her brain.

Apart from So-nee, actors like Koo Kyo-hwan and Lee Jung-hyun will appear in ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ as well. The duo has collaborated with Sang-ho in Peninsula. Koo plays Seol Kang-woo who tries to find her missing sister by tracking those mysterious parasites. On the other hand, Lee will portray the leader of “Team Grey”, Choi Jun-kyung, in the show.

Screenwriter of Netflix’s Money Heist: Korea, Ryu Yong-jae, is also aiding Yeon Sang-ho in penning down the script of ‘Parasyte: The Grey’. The streaming platform is yet to reveal the show’s release date. Stay tuned for more updates.
