‘Man of Steel’ actor Henry Cavill has, just a few hours ago, announced through an Instagram video that he has wrapped filming for the upcoming sequel to the 2020 Netflix film ‘Enola Holmes’. “Today was my last day on Enola Holmes” the actor said. ‘Enola Holmes’ eventually became one of the most-watched Netflix original films for the streaming platform.
In the parent film, Henry Cavill had essayed the role of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and the brother of the film’s titular protagonist Enola Holmes, which was portrayed by ‘Stranger Things’ actress Millie Bobby Brown.
Based on Nancy Springer’s book of the same name, ‘Enola Holmes’ is set in 1884 England and follows the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’s free-spirited 16-year-old rebellious sister Enola Holmes. When Enola Holmes discovers that her mother has mysteriously disappeared, the sharp teenager sets out on a mission to find her missing mother and eventually teams up with a young Lord to unravel a far-reaching conspiracy.
Besides Henry Cavill (as Sherlock Holmes) and Millie Bobby Brown (as Enola Holmes), two other actors confirmed to reprise their roles are Helena Bonham Carter (as the Holmes family matriarch) and Helena Bonham Carter (as Tewkesbury). Like the first film, ‘Enola Holmes 2’ is being directed by Harry Bradbeer.
While Enola Holmes’s character was adapted for the screen for the first time in the Netflix film, that’s obviously not the case with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.
Before Henry Cavill, the super sleuth was recently portrayed by ‘Iron Man’ actor Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie’s acclaimed film adaptations. Ian McKellen played an older version of Sherlock Holmes in the 2015 film Mr. Holmes. And Benedict Cumberbatch too starred in BBC series titled ‘Sherlock’, amongst other on-screen adaptations.
Stay tuned to Binged for the updates on Netflix’s ‘Enola Holmes’ sequel.
