Anushka Sharma has been off-screen for quite a time now and she will be donning the acting hat once again with her next, Chakda ‘Xpress, inspired by the incredible story of Indian international cricketer and former captain of India national women’s cricket team, Jhulan Goswami.
The ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ star shared some pictures today on social media showing her prep for the role of a fast bowler while trying to get the grip on the red ball. She can be seen practicing in the nets wearing a black T-shirt. Anushka wrote, “Grip by grip 💙🏏

Set to premiere on Netflix, ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ is a sports biopic that traces the glorious journey of one of the fastest female pacers in the history of world cricket, Jhulan Goswami, as she moves up the ladder despite the countless hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfill her only dream: to play cricket.
Talking about the film and Jhulan, Anushka said, “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket.”
Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz is bankrolling ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ with Prosit Roy (‘Pari’) servings as the film’s director. Karnesh Sharma is the producer for the film. Earlier last month Anushka had shared the ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ teaser and had received praise for the same.
