Here’s All That’s Coming To Prime Video This August

August is all decked up for Amazon Prime Video. There’s high-stakes dramas, rib-tickling comedies, epic adventures and much more. Highlights include the intense Kannada thriller ‘Kotee’, the heartwarming Hindi rom-com ‘Teriya Meriya Hera Pheriyan’, and the much-anticipated returns of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ and ‘Fear the Walking Dead’.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

The much-awaited season 2 of this series will premiere on August 29. The drama series takes place thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’, both written by J.R.R. Tolkien. Created by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, the series follows an ensemble cast as they confront the long-feared emergence of evil in Middle Earth. The series will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.

Kotee

An honest man named Kotee battles corruption in Janatha City to secure his sister’s future. Defying powerful gang leader Dinoo Saavkaar, Kotee faces a perilous ultimatum: eliminate his foes or be eliminated himself. The Kannada drama-thriller, which stars actors Dhananjaya, Rangayana Raghu, and Prithvi Shamanur, will be available from August 2.

Imaginary

In this psychological horror-mystery-thriller, a woman returns to her childhood home to be confronted by her very real ‘imaginary’ friend, who is very unhappy about being abandoned. Directed by Jeff Wadlow and written by as well along with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland, the film stars DeWanda Wise, Taegen Burns, and Pyper Braun, and will be available from August 9.

Golam

Following a mysterious death during work hours in an office, lead investigator ASP Sandeep Krishna (played by Ranjith Sajeev) quickly concludes that it is murder. The Malayalam crime-mystery film has been directed by Samjad and co-written by him and Praveen Viswanath. It will be available from August 9.

Dark Winds

Dark Winds follows Navajo police officers Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) in 1970s Southwest as they investigate a double murder, challenging their spiritual beliefs along the way. Seasons 1 and 2 of this gripping crime drama, spanning 14 episodes, arrive on August 5.

Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes

Young Coriolanus Snow mentors and develops feelings for Lucy Gray Baird, the female tribute from District 12. As he grapples with the challenges of mentorship and his burgeoning emotions, Coriolanus sees an opportunity to restore his family’s fortunes, setting the stage for his eventual rise to power as the tyrannical President of Panem. The cast includes Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth and Viola Davis among others. The PG-13-rated film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada from August 8.

One Fast Move

A young man seeks out his estranged father to pursue his dream of becoming a professional motorcycle racer. With help from his love interest and a motorcycle shop owner, he begins to break down the walls his father’s absence had created, embarking on a journey of reconciliation and high-speed ambition. The film starring KJ Apa, Eric Dane and Maia Reficco. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada from August 8.

Teriya Meriya Hera Pheriyan

This Hindi rom-com is about Lucky, a young taxi driver who dreams of moving to the U.K. He encounters financial troubles and falls for Paali, whose father proposes a fake marriage to help her immigrate. Lucky agrees to the scheme, hoping to win her love. Directed by Ricky MK, the film will be available on screens from August 12.

Fear the Walking Dead (Season 8)

The final season of this sci-fi-horror-drama series will be available from August 15. The series is a spinoff of ‘A Walking Dead’, set in Los Angeles, California. It follows two families who have to band together to survive the undead apocalypse.

Jackpot!

In this action-comedy film, starring John Cena, Awkwafina and Simu Liu, Katie relocates to LA and accidentally wins the lottery. She finds herself in a perilous race against time, and to survive, she teams up with amateur protector Noel, navigating the treacherous terrain of Los Angeles. The duo has to contend with Noel’s rival, Louis Lewis, who is determined to eliminate her and claim his hefty protection fee. The film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada from August 15.

No Gain Ko Love (Season 1)

The Korean rom-com series, which stars Shin Min-a, Lee Sang-Yeob, and Yoo Jae-myung, is about a woman who is on a path of self-discovery and personal growth. The first season follows her, as she navigates through relationships and life’s complexities. The series will be available in English and Hindi on August 26.

Other than the above there are a few other titles that made their debut on Amazon Prime Video in these past few days of August. These are Christo Tomy’s poignant Malayalam drama ‘Ullozhukku’, Malayalam comedy film ‘Perumani’, superhero action-adventure animation ‘Batman: Caped Crusader (Season 1), and Kabir Khan’s Kartik Aaryan starrer docudrama biography ‘Chandu Champion’ (on rent).
