Silambarasan’s ‘Maanaadu‘ has received rave reviews from industry insiders, critics and audiences alike. The Tamil film hit theatres on 25th November, 2021, and has done excellent business at the box office. However, owing to Covid-19 fears, not everyone has watched Maanaadu in the theatres. There are a whole lot of film buffs waiting for the film to premiere on OTT so that they can watch it in the safety of their homes. They are keen to know when and where Maanaadu will release on OTT.
Well, we’ve got definite information for viewers on the Maanaadu OTT release. The much-awaited film will premiere on OTT on SonyLIV. The streaming platform posted the OTT release announcement for Maanaadu on social media, along with a trailer of the film. SonyLIV also mentioned that Maanaadu will premiere soon on the platform.
Though SonyLIV hasn’t yet revealed the OTT release date of the film, our calculations tell us that Maanaadu will release on SonyLIV on 24th December, exactly a month after its theatrical release. A 24th December OTT release for Maanaadu will give it an exclusive theatrical run of one month, which has been the norm in recent times. Also, while all major streaming platforms have scheduled big releases for the Christmas weekend, SonyLIV still hasn’t announced any significant release for Friday, 24th December. Maanaadu will be the perfect entertainer film to draw viewers to SonyLIV in the crucial Christmas weekend.
Maanaadu is a sci-fi and action film that is centered on the recent trend of the time loop. The principal characters of the film are caught in an endless repetition of the same events happening in a never-ending time loop. In Maanaadu, a common man (Simbu) and a police officer (S. J Suryah) are trapped in a time loop, at the day of a public conference of the chief minister and forced to live the same day over and over again. Venkat Prabhu has written and directed Maanaadu. It stars Silambarasan, S. J. Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan,S. A. Chandrasekhar, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren and Anjena Kirti in primary roles.
