As per sources in the know, Rian Johnson, creator of the Knives Out franchise, and Netflix are planning a Fall 2022 premiere for Knives Out 2. This means, Netflix plans to release the Daniel Craig headlined film sometime in the last quarter of 2022, between October to December. The late release is also owing to the fact that Netflix hopes that Knives Out 2 will make a splash in the film festivals and awards circuit too, just like its predecessor Knives Out did. The debut film of the franchise had won a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards 2020.
Fall is fast becoming Netflix’s designated season for its biggest and buzziest films. Fall 2021 saw the release of big ticket Netflix films, ‘Red Notice’, ‘The Power Of The Dog’, ‘Tick Tick…Boom’, ‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘The Lost Daughter’, among a clutch of others. Netflix acquired the Knives Out sequels, Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3 from original owner Lionsgate, under a whopping $469 million deal. Looking at the mouthwatering cast for Knives Out 2, Netflix seems to have picked up a cool deal and a winner in its kitty.
