Vanam is a horror-thriller that was released in November this year. Due to restrictions and new trends in the entertainment industry, it is also releasing on an OTT platform soon.
Generally, the movies that are released in theatres become available to stream after 4 weeks of release. This is the same case with Vanam that received largely positive reviews.
This is the story of a boy called Magizh and his friend Jasmine. They are the students of an Arts College and live in a hostel. Most of his roommates start committing suicide one by one. This incident was both baffling and depressing for him but anyhow he is determined to unravel the mystery.
This Srikantan Anand directed film is about the relativity between history and the suicides. There are a lot of layers in this movie that gives us a fair dose of thrill.
It is not just about usual horror stuff, but also about reincarnation and the balance of nature. It also talks about the inequalities in our society where tribals are at a disadvantage.
The USP of this film is definitely not the story, but it is the background score and the cinematography. This film excels at those two parameters and that is what makes it a decent one time watch.
Regardless, it will be released on Simply South on 31st December.
