Rani Mukherji has stunned everyone with her brilliant performance in her latest film ‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’ and very rightly so. Rani was one of the highly paid actresses of the 2000s and has been doing films on an intermittent basis.
And while she is a recognised star, Rani has got some astounding compliment for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway’, many even calling it her career-best performance. The film itself is well made and is a hard-hitting family drama.
It’s not just Rani Mukherji who has impressed viewers but before her Kajol gave a praise worthy performance in ‘Salaam Venky’ and so did Madhuri Dixit in Amazon Prime original movie ‘Maja Ma’. Raveena Tandon too played an impactful role in blockbuster film ’KGF: Chapter 2’ and we are well aware of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s magnificent looks and performance in ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’.
90s and 00s were the decades when it was more about macho men leading the films with heroines playing the supporting roles. But now the times have changed and those very actresses who did not get many opportunities to have female led films in their eras are now getting the right scripts and are absolutely nailing it.
They are creating a new niche for themselves showcasing that talent has no age bar and when men their same age can lead films why not them. In fact it’s that much needed shift that still needs a lots of catching up. We need more films with female leads from gone by decades who can bring their experience and grace on screen.
