Hidden Gems: Why You Should Check Out ‘Happy!’!

The Hidden Gem series is no longer punctual (not being regular with the weekly update) – but we will make sure that you guys will get the title of an obscure or at least a slightly “non-mainstream” content from us which will be worth watching and it will be streaming on a major platform (or any platform available in India really) for you guys to check out. This week, we are looking at the live-action adaptation of the four-issue comic book series (same name as the series) created by writer Grant Morrison and artist Darick Robertson – ‘Happy!’ So without much further ado, let’s dive right in.

Happy‘ is an American live-action/adult animated black comedy/action-drama television series that follows Nick Sax, who is a disgraced ex-police detective, living as a social outcast. He wastes away his days with heavy drinking and substance abuse, working as a hitman to feed his addictive habits. However, after sustaining a heart attack, Nick comes into contact with a small, blue, winged unicorn named Happy that apparently only he can see. Happy turns out to be the imaginary friend of a little girl named Hailey, who has been kidnapped by a man dressed up in a Santa Claus suit. Though Nick is very sceptical at first, he reluctantly agrees and the two work together to save Hailey. Their search for Hailey slowly spirals out of control as they discover the existence of a massive, global conspiracy involving child trafficking, sex cults, aliens, ancient Gods, and the apocalypse.

If the above synopsis doesn’t get you to watch the series, check out the trailer for ‘Happy!’ down below:

As both the trailer and synopsis suggest this show is a high-voltage, action-filled, gory ride. Similar to the graphic novel series itself. This show might not be the show you think it is and it might not be what many of you want to watch, but we are quite sure it will surprise anyone who watches it.

So if you guys do feel up for it, check out two seasons of ‘Happy!’, which are currently streaming on Netflix.
